The R 18 Transcontinental looks like it could just eat up the miles. The large front fender and the striking front end with both auxiliary headlights form the starting point for the elegant streamlined design. The 6.3 gallon tank, wind deflectors, floorboards and the topcase with backrest for the passenger complete the clearly defined look.

Powered by a high-performance, in-line four-cylinder 399cc engine with advanced racing-inspired technology, the Ninja® ZX™-4RR KRT Edition supersport is a force to be reckoned with both on and off the track. We have also optimized the standard Shift Assistant Pro. It now also permits gearshifts with overrun upshifts and overrun downshifts and provides improved load change damping – for gearshifting precision. And even the rear sprocket has more teeth now: just like in the M RR, it now has 46 teeth instead of 45 – for power down the straight.

  • Kayaba rear shock, pre-load adjustable
  • Chain, front spocket 15, rear sprocket 46
  • Upside down Kayaba 41 mm fork
  • Straight cut gears, Ratio 1.85:1

  • L-Twin, Desmodromic distribution, 2 valves
  • Ducati Multimedia System, Ducati Quick Shift
  • Riding Mode, Power Mode, ABS Cornering
  • Kayaba rear shock, pre-load adjustable

Overview

The R 18 Transcontinental offers you exclusive and luxurious traveling. As a member of the R 18 family it represents BMW Motorrad’s tradition and is deeply rooted in the here and now: its unmistakable front end with the tall windscreen and the mighty Big Boxer promise a comfortable, powerful ride for miles.

  • Authentic W1 inspired styling
  • Disc brakes with ABS
  • Chrome-plated steel fenders
  • Large round turn signals
  • Standard handlebar

Leading the way is a matter of millimeters, especially in the circles the RR has always been a part of. That’s why we have streamlined and evolved the RR where it matters most: from the new steering angle sensor with Brake Slide Assist and Slide Control as well as the integration of M components and improvements to the electronics and crucial processes for modifying the bike for the race track. And all this with a clear goal in mind – claiming the pole position over and over again.

The airbox from the M RR provides particularly good air supply and improved load changes. The cylinder heads with new channel geometry and reinforced bearing brackets also stem from the M RR.

SUPERSPORT-STYLE HANDLING

The automatic load compensation feature accurately adapts the chassis to the load applicable to the motorcycle. And thanks to it being prepared for customizing you can define your R 18 Transcontinental according to what you will discover on every trip: yourself. Unlike any other cruiser, the Vulcan S is designed to transport riders into a sporty realm in edgy style. Blending an aggressive ride with a vintage styling and a powerful 649 cm³ engine, this bike kicks any experience into high gear. Whether you’re commuting to work or enjoying a day trip, the Vulcan S adds confidence-inspiring performance to every ride.

  • Relaxed riding position
  • Silver aluminate rims
  • Tuck & roll seat
  • Kawasaki Advanced Dynamic Analysis Designed Frame
  • Large 19″ front wheel and 18″ back wheel

Videos

You already realize why the Big Boxer is called exactly that when you start it up. You can feel the vast displacement on every mile along the way. With its typical boxer power development you can rely on a minimum 111 lb-ft between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. The impressive torque and responsiveness provide fully-fledged pleasure in the long term – relaxed, but never boring.

Off to pit lane after laps around the race track: the last screen is now always displayed after having switched the ignition off/on. This will keep your concentration levels high and you focused on your mode. One Pure Ride Screen and three different Core Screens are available depending on your preference. The system displays an appropriate maximum speed when the engine is cold. Thanks to the flashing gearshift indicator, the tachometer now flashes as an additional indicator.
